When you plan ahead, you can also plan other activities that are local to the area; and you’ll know to pack appropriate gear for the type of park you will be visiting, whether it’s swimming gear, fishing gear or hiking gear.
If you think spending time in an RV in a national park sounds like fun and you don’t have an RV, stop by Specialty RV Sales today to walk through many of the floor plans we have on display. Pick an RV that fits your lifestyle, whether you have a larger family, it’s just two of you, or you plan on taking several friends out on a hiking, hunting or fishing trip.
Entrance Fee Free Dates for 2015
All national parks have several entrance fee-free dates each year. In 2015, those dates are:
- January 19 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day;
- February 14 through February 16 – Presidents’ Day Weekend;
- April 18 through April 19 – Opening weekend of National Park Week;
- August 25 – National Park Service’s birthday;
- September 26 – National Public Lands Day; and
- November 11 – Veteran’s Day
Of the country’s 401 national parks, only 133 of them charge an entrance fee. Thus, if you plan on attending a park that does charge an entrance fee, you can get in free on the above-listed dates.
If you often frequent national parks that do charge an entrance fee, you may want to consider the $80 annual pass. The pass provides entrance to national wildlife refuges, national parks, national forests and many other federal lands. Combined, there are over 2,000 places to go RVing. Additionally, active duty military members and dependents can pick up the pass for free.
The fee waivers for fee-free days include entrance fees, transportation entrance fees and commercial tour fees. If a third party collects a fee such as a camping, tour or concession fee, those fees are not waived unless it is otherwise stated.
