Planning, Preparing, and Packing: What to Bring on your RV Trip
The time has come for you to start packing for your next RVing adventure. However, after you’ve thrown your clothes and toiletries into a bag, your mind goes blank. What else should you bring?
Have you ever noticed that every time you go on an RV trip, there is inevitably something that you left behind or wished you would have packed? Or, do you always have a hard time deciding what is worth bringing and what you should leave behind?
The goal of an RV trip is to enjoy yourself away from the pressures of everyday life, so why start the trip with a heaping dose of that everyday life? All you need a little nudge in the right direction and you will find that packing is really not all that difficult!
Plan the Food
Of course, no RV trip is complete without the right food. And, with the food comes the need for cooking utensils, dishes, and everything else you might need. First thing’s first, make sure you know what you are eating every day. Make recipes and write down a plan to make the days easier. Here are a few extras you might need for many cooking scenarios:
- Cups, mugs, glasses, etc
- Platters and bowls for food and cooking
- Multi-purpose cooking knife
- Eating utensils
- Matches or lighter
- Bottle opener
- Pots and pans (as needed)
- Paper towels and/or napkins
- Condiments
Plan the Activities
What are you doing during the day? What are your favorite camping activities? Maybe you love sitting in a chair and reading by the lake. Or, maybe you like getting out the yard games and inviting the neighbors over for a game of lawn darts or bean bags. Whatever you like to do, make sure you have all the proper accessories and items to make it happen. Here are a few suggestions if you are at a loss:
- Lawn chairs or Outdoor loungers’
- Deck of playing cards
- Board games
- Cross-word puzzles or sudoku
- Lawn games
Plan the Extras
There are always a few things that are going to be a good idea to have in any camping scenario. They include things like:
- Snacks
- Sunscreen
- First aid kit
- Insect repellant
- Batteries
- Flashlights
- Ropes
- Duct Tape
- Extension Cords
- Tarps
Of course, there are so many things to bring on an RV trip, you need to make sure you think everything through about your specific needs. Just remember to pack everything that you might need, but keep the storage space in mind as well. You never want to find yourself in a mountain of clutter when you are RVing.
