Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center
Not only is the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, Ohio a National Historic Landmark, it’s the perfect place to learn about our nation’s 19th president. Visit Hayes’ massive 31-room home, a museum, presidential library and even the grave site of the president himself. Your kids will love all of the exhibits, events and activities held at the museum so much, they’ll probably forget that they’re actually learning.
William Taft’s Childhood Home
Taking a weekend trip to the Cincinnati area? Tour the childhood home of the United States’ 27th president William Howard Taft. Tours are free and run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a daily basis, so you can make it a last-minute learning experience if you’ve already made plans for the city.
James Garfield’s Victorian Era Home
Before you head back home on President’s Day, pay a visit to James Garfield’s former home in Mentor. This gorgeous Victorian-era home is certainly a site to see, and special family-friendly events and programs are held on President’s Day. Admission is only $5 and kids under 15 get in free, so it’s the perfect budget-friendly activity to end a three-day weekend in your RV.
